Strange & Revamped Tours at Atlanta Movie Tours
Atlanta Upside Down Tour
Atlanta is a hot bed of filming activity and being huge fans of the Netflix hit Stranger Things we are thrilled to be able to take guests to some of the great locations featured on this show! Deciding which ones to kick things off with was no easy feat and we will be building on this for tours in the future, including a long version, think all-day, where you’ll immerse yourself in the world of the Upside Down!
For now, the Atlanta Upside Down Tour is available on various days during the week and weekend and you can always book a private tour for your group so you can tell us when you want to go! This 3.5 hour tour is chock-full of clips, fun stories from our Insiders and so much more that you’ll have to Get In. Geek Out. to experience for yourself!
We want to ensure that we respect production and locations so while we can’t show you everything, we promise you’ll have a blast! The excitement around this show and tour is off-the-chain and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be able to add this to our other great tour offerings! Make sure to binge the show before the tour because another thing we promise is that we will all be talking about that Season 3 ending! If we could just get them to turn the Plaza Arcade into a real 80’s-style arcade we would be geeking out even more!
Location Shoutout: Sleepy Hollow Farm (http://sleepyhollowtrees.com) is a 60-acre family-owned farm 30 minutes outside of Atlanta where families, friends, and teammates can bond outdoors in nature. The farm started as a cut-your-own Christmas Tree farm back in the 1970’s and has expanded over the years to include various fun activities such as a very popular corn maze and pumpkin patch in the fall. Sleepy Hollow Farm also started the first outdoor escape “room” business called Escape Woods where teams work together to solve clues and puzzles to escape from their various family-friendly and scarier escape game adventures. With 3 generations of family living and working on the farm Sleepy Hollow Farm is truly a family-owned and operated destination.
One final shoutout! Saturday, August 10th from 10am-4pm the Jimmy Carter Library & Museum, as part of their Georgia On My Screen Exhibit, will be having a STRANGE SATURDAY and it’s free (definitely snag a ticket for the full exhibit though!! Come in costume, join us in the lobby and live out your Stranger Things fantasies. For one special day, things at the Carter Museum will be stranger than the town of Hawkins. Their spacious museum lobby will be transformed into an 80s video arcade with D&D demos, panel discussion, a live podcast (thanks to The Upside Down Podcast – listen if you’re not already!!) and more!
All New Best of Atlanta Tour!
We have also released an all-new version of our Best of Atlanta Tour! One of our most popular tours, this revamp gets us out of the bus for a 30 minute walking portion through the Fairlie-Poplar District and a portion of the Centennial Park District in Downtown Atlanta. Whether you love Baby Driver, Black Panther, Uncle Drew, Stranger Things, The Hunger Games, The Accountant, The Walking Dead, Jumanji, Sully or any number of other popular #GeorgiaFilm’d movies & t.v. shows, this tour has something for everyone, no matter what kind of fan you are!
Location Shoutout: Cafe Lucia (http://cafeluciaatl.com) owner David Jackson’s motto is “When you are here, you are treated like family” and since the AMT Team is the same way we love having the chance to take people to this cute spot in the Fairlie-Poplar District in Downtown Atlanta. Located on the Walton St side of the historic, 100+ year old, Neo-Gothic-style Healey Building they have a history with film that you’ll learn about on the tour and grab a coffee along the way!
How fun are these??? We are all about our vinyl stickers and Sticker Mule has us covered with fun #GeorgiaFilm stickers! Create your own vinyl stickers or snag some of ours in our shop, better yet, do both! While supplies last, if you say “L’Eggo My Eggo” you’ll get a free sticker in our shop in Castleberry Hill!
