13 Reasons Why Atlanta is Now A Film Capital

Last week, Netflix premiered the new series based on Jay Asher's popular young adult novel Thirteen Reasons Why. The series wasn't filmed in Atlanta, but now after wrapping season one, two of the principle cast members Miles Heizer (who plays Alex Standall) and Katherine Langford (who plays the titular character Hannah Baker) are in Atlanta to film another movie based on a popular YA book Simon vs. The Homo Sapien Agenda by Becky Abertalli. Production code signs labeled PSI have been seen near Fort Gillem and near Oglethorpe University.  As Atlanta grows as a…continue reading →

Atlanta-filmed Spider-Man: Homecoming and Baby Driver Release Trailers

The past few weeks have been full of trailers for highly-anticipated films set to hit theaters this summer. Two Atlanta-filmed movies, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Baby Driver, dropped their trailers. AMT is excited to catch a glimpse of the locations used in and around the city, and we can't wait to have a full list of locations to add to our Best of Atlanta and Hero tours.  Because Spider-Man: Homecoming  is a Marvel film, the majority of the filming was done at Pinewood Studios, but our Insiders notices a few places in the trailer that are Atlanta buildings with…continue reading →

AMT Turns 5

If Atlanta Movie Tours were a human, it would be a fun-loving, inquisitive, and compassionate child getting ready to start Kindergarten. It would be jumping up and down at the prospect of starting a new chapter and getting to do things it's never done before. Its parents would be telling it to calm down and take a deep breath before it leaves the house to explore a new world and make new friends. But in Atlanta Movie Tours' five years of life, it has already had so many amazing experiences and learned…continue reading →

And the Oscar Goes to…

It's no secret that the Academy Awards this year were full of surprises. And to keep up with the drama, some of our Insiders even watched the Oscars on one screen while trying to pay attention to The Walking Dead at the same time, needless to say, when the Oscars drew to a close, it was a good thing that The Walking Dead had already gone off-air.  If you haven't heard by now, the film Moonlight took home the Oscar for Best Picture, but not after La La Land was announced in its…continue reading →

Football Season Is Over

"Rise Up" was the marketing tagline for the Atlanta Falcons as they made their way to Super Bowl LII, and rising up was exactly what the Falcons did in Houston this past weekend. They rose to the occasion and played the closest game in Super Bowl history--the first to go into overtime. And while the Falcons lost to the Patriots, this will not be the last time Atlanta is in the Super Bowl spotlight. In 2019, the 53rd Super Bowl is set to be hosted in Atlanta right near Atlanta Movie Tours' neighborhood of…continue reading →

Wrap-Up for 2015

Last month, Atlanta Movie Tours had the amazing opportunity to help the Atlanta History Center in celebrating the premiere of the final Hunger Games movie. Fans danced and explored and posed for pictures with Jenny, our "Katniss," and took in the amazing history of the Swan House that was used in the of filming for President Snow's mansion. November 22nd, when this Storm The Capitol event took place, it was cold and the sky was overcast. But as our Insiders milled around and talked to the fans who had come out, we saw…continue reading →

Filming Soon!

It's becoming increasingly obvious that Atlanta is the place to be for movie and television shoots. In the little over a year that I have been here, countless movies and shows have shot on my college's campus and in the surrounding areas. Just the other day, I was rerouted leaving my nannying job because "Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising" starring Zac Efron and Selena Gomez was filming in the subdivision where I was working. But there are plenty of other movies that are about to start filming around town in the next few months.…continue reading →

Our New Shop

We are still at 327 Nelson St. SW, but you may notice a few things that are different about our shop. We've recently been renovating to expand the store and add new things like props and merchandise space.¬†   Now when you walk into our shop, instead of a wall to your left, you will see an entirely new room. We knocked out one of the walls and expanded the space back to create a new area for merchandise. We also hope to use the space as an area for premieres and parties,…continue reading →

Today the movie Ant-Man is release nation-wide. The movie starring Paul Rudd was filmed in Atlanta, both in the city and at Pinewood Studios in Fayetteville, GA. The studio was opened in 2013, and the release of Ant-Man marks the US branch's first feature film. Right now, in addition to filming in Castleberry Hill (where our shop is located) and other areas in Atlanta, ¬†Captain America: Civil War is using Pinewood to bring another piece of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to life. We love having such a fantastic studio so close to us…continue reading →
