On September 28th, FOX hosted a double feature preview screening for The Gifted and Ghosted at Regal Atlantic Station. “Atlanta” Makes Emmy Award History

History was made in more than one way Sunday at the 69th Emmy Awards. And while there were a few shocks to the Atlanta filming community, like the fact that the Stranger Things crew took home none of their 5 nominated Emmys, there were also monumental wins for Donald Glover and the cast and crew of the Atlanta-filmed love letter to our city, Atlanta.  Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino (If you want to know the story behind his musical name, our Insiders talk about it on our Atlanta Heritage Tour), took home the Emmy for Outstanding…continue reading →

Meet Your (Super) Heroes at KidsFest

You may have seen superheroes on TV, and if you're from the Atlanta area, you may have seen the real actors playing Marvel heroes walking around downtown while they filmed. Our AMT team has seen the Avengers and Ant-Man in our Castleberry Hill neighborhood on more than one occasion. On our tours, our guests are occasionally surprised when we pull up to a filming location and waiting for them outside is one of our amazing cosplayers dressed as a well-known hero. This happened not too long ago, before the release of Captain America:…continue reading →

Irma Shutters Homes and Shuts Down Filming

Last week, hotels in and around Atlanta were filled with people attending Dragon Con. Now, as Hurricane Irma makes its way up the southern coast of the US, those same hotels are filled with evacuees from Florida, southern Georgia, and with others who had been hoping to outrun Hurricane Harvey. Today, Atlanta Movie Tours shut its doors and, along with the rest of Atlanta, is bracing for the dying storm to hit.  Businesses across the city have closed after Governor Deal declared a state of emergency in Georgia. This means that filming across…continue reading →

13 Reasons Why Atlanta is Now A Film Capital

Last week, Netflix premiered the new series based on Jay Asher's popular young adult novel Thirteen Reasons Why. The series wasn't filmed in Atlanta, but now after wrapping season one, two of the principle cast members Miles Heizer (who plays Alex Standall) and Katherine Langford (who plays the titular character Hannah Baker) are in Atlanta to film another movie based on a popular YA book Simon vs. The Homo Sapien Agenda by Becky Abertalli. Production code signs labeled PSI have been seen near Fort Gillem and near Oglethorpe University.  As Atlanta grows as a…continue reading →

Atlanta-filmed Spider-Man: Homecoming and Baby Driver Release Trailers

The past few weeks have been full of trailers for highly-anticipated films set to hit theaters this summer. Two Atlanta-filmed movies, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Baby Driver, dropped their trailers. AMT is excited to catch a glimpse of the locations used in and around the city, and we can't wait to have a full list of locations to add to our Best of Atlanta and Hero tours.  Because Spider-Man: Homecoming  is a Marvel film, the majority of the filming was done at Pinewood Studios, but our Insiders notices a few places in the trailer that are Atlanta buildings with…continue reading →
